Weekly Message from the Pastor - Nov. 17, 2017

November 17, 2017

Dear Friends,

This Sunday we will focus on what enables us to be thankful, as we anticipate the festivities of next Thursday. There is much which calls for our thanks; family, friends, a home, being a part of a church family, having means of support, good health, the beauties of nature - to name just a few. It is easy to give thanks to God for life, and the situations and people that enhance our lives.

But our life’s journey does not always take us along the the crest of a mountain range; from one pinnacle moment to the next. Rather, sometimes situations in life take us into the chasms; a loved one who is seriously ill, anxiety over challenges at work, financial distress, relationship turmoil. So how can we possibly give thanks in the midst of life’s painful times?

This Sunday we will reflect on giving thanks as a way of life; regardless of what we are facing. I look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday.

In a couple of weeks we will start the season of Advent. This season before Christmas is often a time when people are more open to experiencing church. If you know someone who does not have a church home, invite them to join you in worship during this Advent and Christmas season.

Yours in Christ,
