This Sunday is a significant event in the life of followers of Jesus Christ. We will remember how God raised Jesus from the dead, and reflect on how that makes a difference in our lives. This year, Easter falls on April 1st, April Fool’s Day. In history a fool was the one that pointed out inconsistencies, double standards, absurdities and uncovered realities, like the young boy pointing the reality of the emperor’s new clothes, speaking the truth to power.
In a world that values wealth, prestige, and power; the idea that God would be revealed in the form of a peasant from a backwater region of the Roman Empire, who would have no place to lay his head, who ate with sinners, and valued the meek, the peaceful, the poor; and who would suffer a humiliating and violent death on the cross – well that is just plain foolishness.
But as the Apostle Paul would later write, “God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom.”
What we will discover is how God’s apparent foolishness is a loving act for humankind that leads to hope, healing, peace – life. That is good news!
I look forward to worshiping with you at one of the 4 worship services this Sunday.
Sunrise Service – 6:30am (weather permitting we will move outside during during the later part.)
Come Alive Service – 10:00am
Traditional Easter Worship – 8:30am and 11:15am.
Easter is a great opportunity to invite someone who does not have a church home to join you in worship. It is an act of hospitality and grace.
Yours in Christ,
