Our Advent Journey has led us to prepare to receive the gifts of Peace, Joy, and Hope as we anticipate the gift of Love which we will celebrate Christmas Eve. We celebrate a God who loves us so much that he sent his son, that we might come to know this love in our lives. This love offers us the assurance that God is truly with us and has come to save us. That is Good News!
Receiving this kind of love means we will not stay the same, but will grow in grace. As we think about this year, how has being a follower of Jesus Christ made a difference in your life? Have you grown more compassionate, understanding, generous, forgiving? Have your eyes opened to see the needs of children at risk, the loneliness of older adults, of young adults who are searching, for our brothers and sisters who struggle to fulfill basic needs for survival? Thanks be to God for coming into our lives and for sending the Holy Spirit to lead us into loving God and our neighbor, more faithfully.
I pray that your Christmas celebrations find you experiencing the presence of Jesus Christ in your life. As you open the gifts under the tree, may your hearts be open to receiving the gifts of peace, joy, hope, and love that God desires to give you. If you are traveling, I pray for a safe journey and pray that wherever we find ourselves, we extend the gift of God’s love to all we meet.
I look forward to our worshiping together this Sunday as we celebrate the 4th Sunday of Advent as well as on Christmas Eve, Monday, December 24th @ the 5:30 Children and Family Service and at the 7:30pm traditional service. At both services on the 24th we will celebrate with candlelight and Holy communion.
Often Christmas Eve services draw people in who otherwise do not go to church. It is a wonderful way for them to hear the story of God’s love, to share in the beauty of the songs, and experience warm fellowship. Please think about the people in your life who you might ask to join you. You will both be blessed.
Yours in Christ
