February 1, 2019
What does it mean to have a change of heart? This Sunday is the last in the series, “2019 – The Best Year Ever.” We have reflected on how we invite God to guide us throughout each day, become more thoughtful as we gain wisdom, seek God’s guidance for the ordering of priorities in our lives; and this Sunday, we will look at how a “Change of Heart,” makes a difference in our lives.
At all services we will commission the church’s leaders for service this year. We are grateful for their sharing of their time and gifts in ministry here at Buckhall. At the Come Alive service we will welcome new members.
On another note, Buckhall UMC has begun a year-long coaching process called, ShiftPlus, to help our church to grow to be more effective in ministry areas. A team from Buckhall, along with teams from other churches, met for a workshop that talked about shifting from a fellowship mentality to a hospitality mindset. Hospitality is what we do as members of Buckhall to make connections and build relationships with people we don’t know, who are visiting us.
An effective way that you can connect with a guest is to remember the 3-minute rule. The 3 minute rule begins when the service ends. Rather than rush out the door, spend 3 minutes greeting a guest, or connecting with someone who hasn’t been in church for a while. Then invite them to join you for coffee and refreshments; and if the person is a guest, try to connect them with other members in order to help them meet others and experience our hospitality.
I look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday.
Yours in Christ,
